Meals on Wheels
Who We Are
Members of St. Stephen parish who handle the deliveries for Meals on Wheels every Thursday of the year. Meals on Wheels is an outreach program in Sanford that provides a midday meal to the temporarily or permanently homebound who have no other assistance available to them.
What We Do
St. Stephen Church has provided volunteers to this program since its inception approximately 30 years ago. Meals are picked up from Central Carolina Hospital at 10:45 am and each delivery route takes about 45 minutes to cover. There are about 50 recipients spread over five geographical routes, so we need 5-10 volunteers each Thursday.
Volunteers are scheduled for a month at a time and can choose how many months they wish to serve. Substitutes are also needed, as well as inclement weather drivers.
Requirements for Service
Valid driver's license and availability on Thursday mornings
